 Ho Chi Minh City’s Tan Son Nhat airport got a new international terminal Tuesday. The first floor of the three-story terminal will be for arrivals and have anterooms, duty-free shops, and banking services.
The second will be for departures and have similar facilities.It can handle 10 million passengers annually and will throw open its doors this week with five international carriers – Madarin Airlines, Tiger Airways, Shenzhen Airlines, Royal Brunei Airlines and Uni Air – beginning to use it. From September the terminal will operate at full capacity and serve all 35 airlines flying to HCMC. The Southern Airports Authority said the terminal could receive up to 20 flights at a time. It cost over VND3.2 trillion (US$197.7 million) to build and was funded by Japanese Official Development Assistance. The old terminal will be used for domestic flights.
