Hanoi Police have released the identities of four youths detained for the internet publication of an amateur sex dip, featuring a female star of a popular teenage TV soap opera. Two men and two women face prosecution. They are Vu Thi Thuy Linh, Nguyen Thu Linh, Vo Thanh Hiep and Nguyen Huu Tai, all in their twenties. Tai, a contract employee of VTV6, a Vietnam Television station for teenagers, has also been fired for editing and spreading the clip. The four have confessed to the Investigation Bureau. They face prosecution for diffusing a depraved cultural product which adversely affected the society, especially the youths. In addition, there are ten other youths involved in storing, editing and spreading the clip but police have yet to announce any charges. According to Vietnamese criminal law, the culprits would be fined some VND3-30 million (US$300-3,000), probation up to three years, and possibly three imprisonment depending on their involvement. Last week the Vietnam Television binned the Vang Anh's Diary soap, an interactive youth drama which offered lessons on teenage issues and allowed viewers to vote on moral and lifestyle questions by mobile text message and email. Hoang Thuy Linh, 19, the lead actress of the drama, has suffered extensive criticism from angry parents since her clip was uploaded and circulated among internet users over ten days ago.
